I was so excited when snow was on the forecast last weekend. I LOVE LOVE LOVE snowy photographs. It usually works out that the day after the snow has fallen the sky is the most beautiful shade of blue. Last Sunday was no exception. The C family contacted me as they were interested in a snowy mini shoot to commemorate their daughters milestone – 18 months. I first met this beautiful family for K’s newborn shoot. It was fabulous to have the opportunity to photograph them again.

I bought along one of our sleds. Little K was so thrilled to be pulled along by mommy and daddy. She kept saying “MOOOOOORE”. I love this shot below.

I had such a wonderful morning. Another of my favorite shots from the session is this one. The new RiverWalk certainly is seeing a great deal of my camera and I lately.

And lastly one that captures the moment of K adjusting to walking in snow, with her cute little snow boots on. It was like watching a baby take his or her first steps. The excitement, pride and joy on Mommy’s face is precious.

I am happy to announce that I am going to be offering a limited number of complimentary photo sessions for adoptive families this year through a fabulous organization called Red Thread Sessions

I will be offering two different types of sessions:

1. A family portrait session to take place within the first three months of the finalization of the adoption.

2. A birth photography session to capture the birth of the adoptive child in an open adoption.

Please email me if you would like more information at debbie@debbieallanphotography.com

Please share this link if you know anyone going through the adoption process at this time. This is a national program, with photographers across the country offering their services to adoptive families.

We are official in the midst of Winter here in New York, although some days it is hard to believe with the crazy fluctuations in temperature. As a photographer I LOVE this time of year. There is something so amazing and unique about the light, it is PERFECT for portrait photography. That is why I came up with the idea of offering MINI PHOTO SESSIONS for the months of January, February and March.  This is a perfect time to update your family portraits.  They would make fabulous Valentine or Easter gifts for your family.

Recently engaged?  How about an opportunity to mark the occasion with a mini photo session.  The images would be ideal to use on your save the date cards!

Here are the details:

30 minute session time

Up to six family members (bring the family dog/s to join in the fun)

The price: $225

Session fee will include 6 high resolution digital files with print release.

Bundle up in cosy, gorgeous knitted hats, scarves and mittens.  Bring a blanket and snuggle up for a unique portrait session.   If it ever snows again I have a FABULOUS five man toboggan that I am itching to use in a photo session.

The best part, I will provide hot chocolate and marshmallows at the end of the session.

So what are you waiting for?  Email me at debbie@debbieallanphotography.com to book your session today.

Dates and times are subject to availability.  Session must take place within 10 miles of Tarrytown, NY.

I have been photographing the M sisters for three years now and look forward to their session every Fall as they are such fun to be around. The day of their shoot was incredibly cold, but the girls were tough and took it in their stride.

I am so excited that mom is expecting baby girl #3 in April, and guess who is going to be her maternity and newborn photographer! I cannot wait. The girls are going to be amazing big sisters. Mom told me that my newborn gallery made her want to have another baby! Oops, sorry about that.

I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful family back in November. I have been photographing Baby I since she was a few hours old. Her personality is really beginning to shine through now. She is such fun to be around.

With the craziness of the holiday season several sessions did not make it to the blog. Others were not blogged as clients wanted their images to be unseen until after Christmas as they were gifting images to family members who follow my blog. So now that things are a little quieter around here I am looking forward to blogging those sessions over the next few days.

First off the Hughes family session. I was blown away by this little, almost two year old and her incredible ability to follow direction in the frigid temperatures we experienced on the day of their family session. She was a little star and totally rocked this shoot.

It is hard to believe that 2011 is behind us. It is so true that time seems to go faster each year. It has been another fantastic year for Debbie Allan Photography. I always enjoy creating my end of year slideshow, as it is wonderful to have the opportunity to reflect on each of the sessions I did and the wonderful people I encountered throughout the year.

Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year. I am looking forward to 2012 and the photographic journey. I cannot wait to reconnect with clients and I am excited to meet many new families too.

One of my New Years resolutions was to ensure I book a family photo session for my family. I did not do that in 2011 and I regret it. I want to be able to look back at images of my family in years to come, that include me!
