I love taking time at the beginning of each new year to look back and reflect on the fabulous photography sessions I had during the previous year. Putting together a slideshow to showcase some of my favorite images is such a great opportunity for me to reminisce on those special moments I shared with my clients and their families.
I am constantly reminded how lucky I am to do what I love and of the trust my clients have in me by allowing my camera and I to document special times in their lives.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE photographing teenagers.

This group of Juniors (now Seniors) were an absolute delight to work with. We were dealt with lemon weather on the evening of their pre prom celebration. However we created lemonade, thanks in part to the beautiful deck overlooking the Hudson (yes, through the rain clouds the Hudson River was hiding).

This group of friends looked stunning in their formal attire and were natural in front of the camera.

Wishing you all good luck as you embark on your Senior year at Hackley.

On a sunny, crisp Fall morning this week I met with Robert Welsch, of Westover Landscape Design and two of his team at Peabody Outdoor Classroom for a collaborative project with The Public Schools of the Tarrytown.  Robert had kindly donated approximately 2,500 daffodil bulbs for the 7th Grade team Sharks to plant in several prominent locations at Peabody.  Mr Garguilo and the rest of the 7th grade Sharks team directed the children and put them into groups.  They worked diligently and were very enthusiastic.  For many of the students it was their first experience of the new outdoor classroom and it was certainly very well received by them.  Afterall, what better place to learn about nature?

Thank you so much to Tracy Brown, Katie Scully and everyone else involved, for presenting this fantastic idea to the School Board and having the energy and drive to see it through.  This is just the beginning of something truly magical for our school district.  Take some time to bring your family and explore the trails.  The Fall color is spectacular this week and the weather is amazing to go with it.   Unplug for an hour and take a walk in the woods that are right here on our doorstep.

I read a great saying today

Think outside, no box required.

This is so fitting for todays blog post.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this community we live in.

Here is the slideshow of the action packed morning.

I have been photographing Dominique and her brother for three plus years and so I was thrilled to have the honor of photographing her 6th birthday celebration in their new home.

The theme was fairy princesses and so each of Dominique’s guests were presented with fairy wings, a tutu and wand to wear during the party. The girls were adorable. Ellen Watermelon created her party magic for the children and kept everyone entertained with her boundless energy, funny songs, dances and puppetry.

The party guests dined on a scrumptious array of food and enjoyed a beautiful cake from Lulu Cake Boutique.

A Tinkerbell Pinata was quickly opened and the children had fun collecting a bag of treats each.  After a little time to play in the late September sunshine the party ended.

Time for Princess Dominique to rest and recuperate after a busy morning of celebration!

How I wish I was six years old again.

Slideshow

Sometimes I think I strive too hard to get the PERFECT shot.

Last Friday was our youngest son, Campbell’s 9th birthday. I always love to get some shots of the boys on their birthday and this year was no exception! Of course I got some great images of him completely in focus, eye contact, following all the “rules”.

However this image below is my favorite. I was stretching my camera in a low light situation and just LOVE the result. Through the grain you can see the happiness on birthday boys face, as he prepares to make his wish and blow out the candles.

This one image will be treasured forever for it is PERFECT in so many ways.

Happy 9th Birthday Campbell.

Susan was surrounded by a wonderful group of friends to celebrate her 40th birthday party. It had a great evening photographing the event for her. Her friends had organized for me to be there and to create a beautiful keepsake book for Susan to treasure. What thoughtful, caring friends she has.

Happy 40th Birthday Susan

May is First Holy Communion time here is Tarrytown. This year I was fortunate enough to photograph several families that I had worked with in the past for their older child/ren’s First Holy Communion.

I was looking forward to capturing Luke in his communion attire as I knew it would be a fun session. He is quite the character and ALWAYS likes to pretend that he doesn’t want ANY photos of him taken!! The image I captured of him sitting in church praying made me well up. I knew as soon as I took it that I was going to LOVE it, down to the vice like grip he has on his praying hands. Adorable.

Colleen was a delight to photograph and it was enjoyable for me to have the opportunity to get to know her and her sisters a little. Three very different personalities! It was a beautiful evening for her session.

Patrick is the first boy in his family to receive his First Holy Communion and what a sweetheart he is. I photographed his two sisters communions several years ago. Now to look forward to younger brother, Liam’s communion in a few years. That should be very interesting. He is a big ham.

TJ was incredibly serious for his First Holy Communion. I was so thrilled that my family and I had the opportunity to attend this special event for TJ and his family. He looked adorable in his elegant suit. What a charmer.

Gabi’s mom and I have been trying for months to get together for Gabi’s shoot. Rain has delayed us several times, but we finally hit the jackpot on Sunday. The sun was setting and it was a gorgeous warm June evening. I had not met Gabi before, but it took her no time to relax in my company. We walked hand in hand along the Riverwalk, what a sweet girl. She was quite a sense of humor and posed with her very loose tooth dangling out of her mouth at one point, to see if I would notice!!

I always think of family photography as such a rewarding profession. Enabling families to have memories captured for them to treasure for years to come and to share them with future generation. However this afternoon I was reminded just how important those images can be to the families that I work with. I received an email from a client whose daughter’s communion celebration I had photographed this past Spring.

Yesterday her father in law passed away and she requested a couple of images from the family celebration of her two daughters with their beloved grandfather. I was honored to be able to provide those precious images for the family to reflect on during the coming weeks and months.

To the R family
May the peace which comes from the memories of love shared comfort you now and in the days ahead.
