I love taking time at the beginning of each new year to look back and reflect on the fabulous photography sessions I had during the previous year. Putting together a slideshow to showcase some of my favorite images is such a great opportunity for me to reminisce on those special moments I shared with my clients and their families.
I am constantly reminded how lucky I am to do what I love and of the trust my clients have in me by allowing my camera and I to document special times in their lives.

I love meeting with first time parents to be for their maternity shoot.  It fills me with so much joy to be surrounded by the excitement they are experiencing as the due date of their new baby draws near.   K and R were so delightful, calm and photogenic.  Mom is super organized and so ready for the arrival of her precious little one.

I am so excited for their newborn shoot.  They have a beautifully lit home and I am already bursting with ideas for different set ups for baby F’s first photo session.  I purchased some new props yesterday which are going to work so well.   What makes it even more exciting is that they do not know the sex of the baby.  The nursery decor is going to look stunning for either boy or girl.  I love the two design plans they have in place.

The nursery is not yet decorated, but they do have a beautiful old rocking chair in the room which has been in the family for many years. Both K and her father were rocked in it when they were babies. Another special piece that K owns is an incredibly delicate lace blanket that had been her fathers when he was a baby. The detail is amazing and it has been so well preserved. What a treasured item. I am looking forward to incorporating it into the newborn shoot.

It was a dull rainy afternoon for the shoot, so we were not able to get too many shots outside. We did have some fun with some little shoes I had taken along. We have images of little girl shoes and little boy shoes!

I just got word that my canvas vendor is having a sale on 16×20 and 16×24 gallery wrapped canvases until midnight tonight.

If you would like to pre purchase a canvas for your upcoming shoot or create a canvas using an image from your last photo session email me by the end of the day today.  The saving is AMAZING.

Usually $450 plus shipping.  The sale price is just $275 including shipping!

The best compliment I could receive as a photographer is when clients return for another session.  I also love it when my clients refer their friends and family.  As a way for me to thank you for spreading the word I am excited to announce the launch of my Share the Love client referral program.

For each new client you refer to Debbie Allan Photography you and your friend will receive a $25 print credit towards your next portrait session.

The good news is there is NO limit to how much print credit you can build.  However portrait sessions must take place within 15 miles of Tarrytown, NY.  If outside of this area a travel fee will apply.  Portrait sessions are for up to 5 family members.

I will be mailing out postcards to all clients next week. Look out for them in your mailbox.

It is hard to believe that 2011 is behind us. It is so true that time seems to go faster each year. It has been another fantastic year for Debbie Allan Photography. I always enjoy creating my end of year slideshow, as it is wonderful to have the opportunity to reflect on each of the sessions I did and the wonderful people I encountered throughout the year.

Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year. I am looking forward to 2012 and the photographic journey. I cannot wait to reconnect with clients and I am excited to meet many new families too.

One of my New Years resolutions was to ensure I book a family photo session for my family. I did not do that in 2011 and I regret it. I want to be able to look back at images of my family in years to come, that include me!

Mom-to-be, contacted me several months ago, after reading about my work on Park Slope Parents blog. S booked a maternity and newborn shoot. Baby is due at the end of May and so timing for a maternity shoot was perfect this Easter weekend. S and her husband met me on Prospect Park West and 9th on Friday morning. We went for a gentle stroll through Prospect Park. I was amazed at how deserted it was.

I was so impressed at how relaxed they both were in front of the camera. Anyone who knows me can testify how I do not like being on the other side of the camera and so I am always in awe of people who relax and look natural immediately. I need some coaching from my clients I think!

This is where we got started.

There are many, many more gorgeous images from our time together in the park. Cannot wait to release their gallery to them. Looking forward to meeting their baby boy very soon.
