Having the opportunity to spend time with our family on such a joyous occasion was truly magical.  The brides grandparents were very proud of their beautiful granddaughter.  During cocktail hour the guests were also treated to locally made icecream by Katy Rodgers in Fintry.  The boys loved their treat.  Rory and Callan, nephews of the bride looked absolutely adorable in their kilts.  They both did a great job as pageboys.  I was very fortunate to have access to one of the guest bedrooms that overlooked the grounds of Gaen House.  It was the perfect place to get an aerial group shot of all the guests.  I even managed to be in some of the photographs thanks to Uncle Gordon.

2014 was the best year yet for Debbie Allan Photography.  I have enjoyed looking back on the images I captured throughout the year.  It is impossible to narrow it down to pick just one favorite image.  I have put together a slideshow of some of my favorites, which I hope you will enjoy.

Highlights of the year include photographing two weddings, both of which held great sentimental value for me.  I also loved the beach sessions in Cape Cod in August, and hope to schedule more of those for this coming summer.  I tested the water in the Senior photography market and loved getting my feet wet.  I hope to photograph more local Seniors this Winter – look out for  special promotion relating to that very soon.

I met several new babies during the course of the year.  Each of them born to families I had previously worked with.  I ended the year working very close to home – my next door neighbors were my last clients on 2014!

I am excited for 2015.  I have plans in the works for some new and fresh ideas for Debbie Allan Photography and look forward to sharing them with you.See more at Sleeklens’ actions

As Winter is rapidly approaching I am finding myself reflecting more and more on the wonderful summer we had this year.  Trying to warm myself up on a virtual level I guess.

Our summer was filled with many memory making experiences.  One of the big events for our family was travelling back to UK to visit family and friends.  The highlight of our time there was Jaime and Bryan’s beautiful July wedding in Alloa, Scotland.  The weather was something that had caused me to lose a little sleep in the run up to the big day.  Rain in July in Scotland is commonplace and I was stressing over the fact that we may not be able to photograph any images outdoors.  Well, I did not need to worry!  We woke up to the most gorgeous, picture perfect day.

The wedding ceremony and reception took place at the stunning early 20th-century Arts and Crafts style mansion, Gaen House in Alloa.  I joined Jaime and her bridal party early in the morning to capture Jaime’s final hours as a single woman.  She was in the company of her mum and two sisters and was surrounded with love and calm.  It was a delight for me to see the three sisters together on this special occasion.  I have watched them grow up from young children into beautiful, kind and caring adults.  The morning went by in the blink of an eye and before we knew it, it was time to head downstairs to for the wedding ceremony.

Bryan and his bestman were patiently awaiting the arrival of their guests.  Fortunately Jaime did not keep everyone waiting too long.  The ceremony was both sentimental and hilarious.  The minister entertained everyone in stand up comedy style!  It certainly helped to calm the nerves of the bride and groom.

Following the ceremony the guests enjoyed the cocktail hour on the terrace and lawn of Gaen House.

More images from this celebration very soon…….

Several months ago I received a telephone call from a young man who was planning to propose to his girlfriend and was inquiring about hiring me to photograph them as he popped the question. The venue he had chosen for this special occasion was Kykuit, The Rockefeller Estate in Pocantico Hills. He told his girlfriend he had won the private tour and a photographer in a competition at work.

I was thrilled to have been asked to help him document this memorable time in their lives.

I arranged for a neighbor of mine, Laura, to be our guide for the tour. Laura’s father had worked for The Rockefeller family at Kykuit when she was a child and so she had grown up on the estate. Laura is now a docent at Kykuit and it so knowledgeable on all things relating to the Rockefeller family and Kykuit. Doug had purchased all 18 tickets for the tour so that the moment could be intimate and (almost) private. Laura and I watched from the wings as Doug got down on one knee. It was rather emotional to be part of this beautiful couples milestone moment. It was truly an honor.

After the tour and Alyssa had had time to digest what had happened they celebrated with some champagne.

Thank you Doug for entrusting me to capture the moment for you.

I wish you both lots of love and happiness for your future together.

The best compliment I could receive as a photographer is when clients return for another session.  I also love it when my clients refer their friends and family.  As a way for me to thank you for spreading the word I am excited to announce the launch of my Share the Love client referral program.

We are official in the midst of Winter here in New York, although some days it is hard to believe with the crazy fluctuations in temperature. As a photographer I LOVE this time of year. There is something so amazing and unique about the light, it is PERFECT for portrait photography. That is why I came up with the idea of offering MINI PHOTO SESSIONS for the months of January, February and March.  This is a perfect time to update your family portraits.  They would make fabulous Valentine or Easter gifts for your family.

Recently engaged?  How about an opportunity to mark the occasion with a mini photo session.  The images would be ideal to use on your save the date cards!

It is hard to believe that 2011 is behind us. It is so true that time seems to go faster each year. It has been another fantastic year for Debbie Allan Photography. I always enjoy creating my end of year slideshow, as it is wonderful to have the opportunity to reflect on each of the sessions I did and the wonderful people I encountered throughout the year.

Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year. I am looking forward to 2012 and the photographic journey. I cannot wait to reconnect with clients and I am excited to meet many new families too.

One of my New Years resolutions was to ensure I book a family photo session for my family. I did not do that in 2011 and I regret it. I want to be able to look back at images of my family in years to come, that include me!
